We’re Intensifying
Algae Growth

Every hectare of Algae Forest can:

  • Produce 200 tons/year of algae
  • Capture 400 tons/year of CO2
  • Produce 300 tons/year of oxygen
  • Treat the wastewater of 20,000 people
  • Recover 16 ton/year of nitrogen and 4 tons/year of phosphorus

Wastewater Treatment

  • Applications in secondary, and tertiary in municipal wastewater, anaerobic digester sidestreams, and industrial wastewaters
  • Ideal upgrade to meet new nutrient or capacity limits, while achieving carbon neutral treatment
  • Synergistic use of mixotrophic biomass (mixed algae + bacteria)
  • Carbon capture from the air, combined with nutrient and BOD removal
  • Beneficial uses for algae grown on wastewater (fertilizer, biofuel production, some nutraceuticals extraction)

Biomass Production

  • Algae grown for animal feed, human food and extraction of thousands of nutraceuticals and biomaterials
  • Two strains, Chlorella and Spirulina account for 90% of the production globally
  • CO2 from the air or external sources and nutrients from fertilizers
  • Growth conditions optimized and controlled for specific biomass features

Biofuel Production

  • Biomass and energy produced per hectare of land with algae is orders of magnitude larger than for land crops
  • Very large effort (2005-2015) to grow algae for their energy contents resulted in a biofuel “bubble”
  • Renewed interest in using algae to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel
  • Wastewater derived algae biomass has the potential to significantly reduce production costs
